Aug. 07, 2012 We went from our camp at Ranchoria to White Horse Yukon today. More beautiful scenery  but a cloudy day. Had a meat pie and sausage roll at a hot spot on the Alaskan Highway, local fare, for lunch. Then on to White Horse where we went to the Beringia Heritage Museum where they exhibited the history of the land bridge and display the remains of mammals and people that lived in Alaska and the Yukon at that time of the glaciers and land bridge. Looks like the land bridge was a great grassland. Mammoths, Caribou and other mammals came from Siberia a long with the ancestors of the local tribes. Oldest human remains found were around 24,000 years old. Miners find the fossils and work with the local archeologists to preserve what they find. Great place and then of coarse the Transportation Museum was next door. Then onto Klondike Rib and Salmon for great meal. (Yukon Brewery closed at six, big disappointment).
